Yes, these are hard. Exhausting, even. The one I made of Mario beating up a sandbag... Can't remember how many hours it took. Made it over the course of 2 or 3 days, probably. Don't overdo it. Once you get tired of it, you're done, like me.

To get better, I suggest having the characters pause less, and defend themselves more. They keep half-destroying each other, just to get half-destroyed right back. I also recommend speed 7, but that's harder, so it can wait.
