By holding Select + the volume rocker, you can increase or decrease the brightness by 1.
I've used my DSi since 2011 and never knew that this feature was a thing until now. Holy crap Nintendo.

pretty helpful when your dsi is on low battery and you don't have a charger nearby so you just lower the brightness to save it LOL
