Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.
We had a great response to last week's topic “Big Headed”, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.
But first some big news.
On May 31st of this week, the awesome Flipnote Archive will be launched. Giving you access to a vast amount of Flipnotes from yesteryear.
This fantastic collection containing tens of millions of Flipnotes from across many years is now available to you all.
Here’s the link to the Flipnote Archive Help Center for all the related information on Flipnote Archive, including how to access it:

To celebrate this exciting occasion, we have chosen a Weekly Topic specifically to coincide with the launch.
WT - Flipnote Hatena
(Including a call to arms for all original Flipnote Hatena creators. “Please join us in this celebration.”)

And now back to the Topic Competition.
If you're thinking about making a topic Flipnote, don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and its description, as well as the subsequent Upcoming Topics listed at the end of the Newsletter.
Now here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Big Headed". Well done to everybody who entered.
Our first topic winning selection this week is an astonishing photo animation Flipnote by mrjohn.
Utilizing the DSi’s distortion camera and stop motion photography, Mrjohn inflates his own head until it literally explodes, only to retrieve it again with yet more photo trickery and a big thumbs-up.
What an incredibly weird talent indeed!
Our next topic winning selection, by nuja features not only a big headed character, but one that’s backwards headed as well.
Starring in his very own surreal styled MV (Music Video), this off the wall creation is both mysterious and beguiling, in a distinctly back to front kind of way.
Eating a balloon will no doubt turn you into a colossal air-head!
But beware, you could easily be mistaken for a UFO, making you fair game for any passing fighter jets protecting the planet, in this hilarious, topic idea-spinning entry by MegaFuze3D.
An epic stick fight culminates with a big-headed twist in this Weekly Topic winner by updog..
Both combatants have their eyes on the prize; a powerful death ray gun with extreme head-size altering side effects.
But which stick man will get to it first?
There’s a very good reason that big, block-headed Catto is so stubborn, in this winning topic entry by Mickey.
Click and watch to see what’s in his head that’s causing the problem.
You won’t believe it! “Chuckle”
Braxton proudly claims to be the holder of the “Big-Headed” Award from the moment he was born, to this very day.
A truly unprecedented achievement, and one fully deserving of such an accolade “Snigger”
This entry, by Mirage, encapsulates the topic theme with perfect clarity and a turn of phrase that made us chortle for ages after.
“Well then.”
Let’s check it out.
This week's topic, which has been specially selected to coincide with the launch of Flipnote Archive, is “Flipnote Hatena”.
Flipnote Hatena was the original site that allowed Flipnote Studio creators to share their Flipnotes on-line.
Set up by Nintendo, for the DSi, it ran from 2008 to 2013, exhibiting millions of Flipnotes by its highly creative community, with its very own Weekly Topic Competition, just as we have on Sudomemo today.
Your entries for this topic could include new creations, inspirations, re-imaginings, spin-offs, compilations, or any other ideas you have based on Flipnote Hatena.
(Don’t forget to mention if it’s a spin-off in your description, so we can work that into our reviews)
We’re also really hoping to see submissions from old Hatena creators for this topic.
Seasoned Flipnote veterans of the Hatena generation, we call to you.
(And let us know in your descriptions if you were on the original Hatena, so we can also include that in our reviews.) The time has come to bring Sudomemo and Flipnote Hatena together, through the remarkable and nostalgic Flipnote Archive.
Let’s all be a part of it!
.
We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.
Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Flipnote Hatena and the deadline for your entries is June the 5th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).
We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.
And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become its thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.
Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
