Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly News Letter and Weekly Topic competition. Don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and it's description, as well as the subsequent Upcoming Topics at the end of the News Letter.
And now, here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Christmas". Well done to everybody who entered.
It's most definitely Christmas, and Santa Clause is celebrating in true style, with a bodacious festive dance, in our first selection, by Rui Pedro.
The construction circle technique with Stick man legs and arms is just perfect for animating dance moves. And when combined with turns and spins, and the character dressed up in full Santa gear, it makes for a spectacular dance sequence.
Go Santa, go!
You'd better watch out! You'd better not cry! Santa Clause is coming....and he looks seriously scary, in this Christmas parody Flipnote by Silent.
The story board structure, drawings and animation are all first class, and we loved the almost Krampus style twists on the Santa tale.
Naughty children of the world beware!
The timing of the animation, and punctuation of the performance, are perfectly executed in this hilarious Christmas tree collapse Flipnote, by mh123.
We laughed out loud as the, just finished tree comes crashing down in spectacular fashion, but wait! There's yet more to come! It looks like the electric lights were a bit dodgy too. Can someone call the fire brigade? EEEK!
This marvellous, fully animated Christmas card Flipnote, by mrjohn features a magical Father Christmas and a twinkling festive message. Inspired by the Magic Slider Cards, it's pictorial elements come together beautifully, filling in with color and shade in time with the music as they do.
We especially loved the shimmering magic dust that drifts upwards with mystical energy, and the swooping scroll was also a very nice touch.
Korumet has created this rambunctious cycling Flipnote, with numerous Christmas characters, all bouncing, flying, spinning, jumping and dancing to its music.
We were very impressed with the animation skills employed here. The character poses and actions are exceptionally well handled, with great use of anticipation and three dimensional movement in space.
We were really delighted with this joyful, festive MV, by Kêithkash★. It stars his profile character dressed from head to toe in full Santa garb, who regales us with a highly appropriate Christmas message, and is backed by a jolly, jumping Christmas present and Yuletide bells for good measure.
We greatly enjoyed this free flowing Christmas MV, by Messi_Big. Joining characters, text and moving patterns with exploding Pops and Zip cuts, makes for an exciting and energising Noel Flipnote.
In our next enchanting entry, Ran☆Chan sings for us a Mine Craft rendition of a Christmas classic. What a wonderfully gifted singing voice she has.
With fantastic accompanying drawings and amusing antic dotes the song is beautifully sung, and the spirit of Christmas, and Mine Craft, fills the air.
Showcasing consummate keyboard skills, and perfect animation, audio synch, Idkguy presents a Christmas tune as played by his profile character.
Make sure to watch his hands carefully as his fingers press the keys. It really is perfectly timed.
A round of applause indeed!
Cosmirage has drawn this fabulous Flipnote Christmas card in a 1920's style. The fashion of the era is very well represented in the character's dress, and the composition of the picture is beautifully arranged.
It's the start of a new year, and the perfect time to look back on the year just gone! So this week's topic is about anything at all from the year 2020.
It could be your favorite Flipnote memories, your most enjoyable lock down activities, other world events that moved you, or whatever else you can think of that you liked, didn't like, found interesting or felt was weird, from this unusual year that we have just emerged from.
Thinking back on the year just gone can be an emotional experience, so why not try expressing your feelings with animation, or make a nostalgic, emotive creation that's personal to you.
We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.
Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - 2020 and the deadline for your entries is January 3rd (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).
