Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.
We had a great response to last week's topic Pushing Buttons, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.
But first, if you're thinking about making a topic Flipnote, don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and it's description, as well as the subsequent Upcoming Topics listed at the end of the Newsletter.
And now, here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Pushing Buttons". Well done to everybody who entered.
Our first topic winning selection this week, by Jake, features a special, interactive, 'Button of something'!
Touch the screen, and push it, if you dare!
However, if you’re a person of a nervous disposition beware! As there just might be an unexpected surprise in store!
What a fantastic idea for this topic!
You should also check out frames 194 - 242 in detail. It’s a great effect when played at speed, and a fabulous ‘Art-Dump’, when watched one picture at a time.
An enthusiastic animator encounters the age-old problem of non-functioning DSi shoulder buttons, in our next weekly topic winner, by ★Adison★.
Including great voice acting, lip sync, and a talking brain, the Flipnote making story plays out with excellent pacing, and dramatic performance.
Very nicely done!
We really enjoyed this button activated, taco eating, winning topic entry, by Glin.
The hungry little Sudo Fox will keep munching as long as the button is pushed. And boy oh boy, can he put it away.
Which reminds us, we’re a bit peckish ourselves all of a sudden!
Surely, there can be no better purpose for pressing a button, than to dispense cookies, as is clearly illustrated in this highly amusing, winning entry, by ElRobaMeme.
We also had a good chuckle at the face planting, button push.
Now that’s the way to do it! “Giggle”.
Thinking outside the box, ●Eale● truly astonished us with this incredible button, that actually turns you into a house when you push it.
Why not go big with animation.
We love it!
The most dangerous button of all, ‘The Splodey Button’, is only ever used for one thing.
To initiate catastrophic explosions, of an epic proportion!
But, inevitably, curiosity yields disaster, in this hilarious, winning topic entry, by Game Genie.
Here’s a button that rewards you with one million dollars if you press it. Unfortunately, the terrible price for such riches is that someone will also die!
Will the button be pushed or not?
Watch this winning topic entry ,by Ⓑarkegoof, to find out!
This week's topic would include anything that is Solid, heavy, rigid, or unyielding!
This could be many things. For example, a brick wall, a stone boulder, a concrete column, or a steel girder. Or how about a weighty anvil, an overladen barbell, or a great mountain.
All of these are extremely immovable, and solid objects, and could be fun to play around with.
But your subject choice doesn’t have to be so obvious. It could literally be anything you like, as long as you demonstrate how solid, and unyielding it is, with your animation.
One way to suggest an immovable object, would be to contrast its stillness, with a great deal of movement and energy from external forces.
Things could be running into it, bouncing off it, pushing it, pulling it, trying with all of their might to move it, but all to no effect!
What will you choose, and how will you animate it?
The choice is yours!
So why not start making a Flipnote for this topic today
We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the animations and drawings you create for them.
Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Solid as a Rock and the deadline for your entries is October 10th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).
Also, we would encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.
And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.
Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
