Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Waving"

A drones-eye view of OC Evan’s house, as he waves through the window, is brought stunningly to life in this Weekly Topic winning Flipnote by Matt.

As well as the three dimensional, swooping aerial view, created expertly in perspective with fine line flip drawing tools, the accompanying harmonious sound track boasts the very words “Waving through a window”.

That’s just incredible!

Featuring a wave for greeting, for farewell, and for grabbing attention, this Topic winning entry by Söulfïre has yet one more arm based action up its sleeve.

“The Arm Wave Dance”............and We Love It!!!

Performed by a quartet of original characters, each one fully shaded and dressed in their own outfit, the waving action loops continuously in a perfectly edited cycle of both animation and backing music.

Contrasting Manga, super dynamic action with the whimsy of a comedy cartoon style DeebyEegz brings us two distinctly different types of wave.

Skillfully animated, firstly with broad, dramatic movements and sharp softening, followed secondly by a much simpler, but nicely pendulous wave, the opposing techniques are also supported by their sound tracks, which work well to emphasize the differences.

A plucky youngster gives a wave of musical appreciation in this winning entry by DrunkGecko.

We especially loved the sly look to camera.

“Oh Yeah!”

There’s excellent detail and movement in this winning wave of greeting, created by esoteric♠.

The head turn, expression change, and hand movement brings a strong sense of life and intention to the character’s performance.

This cheerful Fox’s wave, animated by WT combines shoulder pivoted movement, along with lovely character drawing and paintbrush shade.

Hair waving in the wind is one of this creator’s favorite subjects to animate.

Checkout this wonderful showcase of exactly that, rendered beautifully on a character of their choice, in this Topic winning Flipnote by 0wenmon

A hand drawn full body wave swings back and forth with a strong whiplash motion in this amazingly athletic Topic winner by SilyElixir.

The addition of speed lines and gentle “whooshing” sound effects gives the fantastic action a convincing sense of realism.

This Weeks Topic - "Mansions"

Mansions, or stately homes are the grand residences of vast estates, usually lived in by the lord or lady of the manor and their family.

Traditionally staffed with teams of butlers, footmen and maids, they’re opulently decorated with chandeliers, paintings, suits of armor and the like. And when seen in the movies, can be resplendent, impressive, imposing, and sometimes even darn right creepy!

Your Flipnotes could involve any kind of mansion you like. Which can be resided in by whomever you choose.

Why not make your OCs Lords and Ladies of the Manor?

Or send them on a historical guided tour?

Or maybe even a mysterious overnight Stay?

Here’s a list of movies featuring mansions that we thought you might find interesting.

The Haunted Mansion (2003)

The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)

The Secret Garden (2020)

Remains Of The Day (1993)

Clue (1985)

We feel that everyone should have a mansion all of their own. So why not create one for yourself, in the form of a Flipnote for this Weekly Topic?

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Mansions and the deadline for your entries is August the 20th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
