Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Escape"

Surrounded on all sides by villains, James Bond A.K.A. 007 makes a daring escape in this winning topic Flipnote by matthieu.

Featuring a fantastic recreation of the gun barrel-view opening sequence from the movies, Bond’s mission also includes the use of a secret watch communicator and rope ladder which carries him away from the enemy horde.

Or at least, until they meet again!

A pair of wily stick figures, imprisoned behind bars, come up with an easy way to escape in this hilarious topic winner by CoolAnim8s.

We loved the ironic, twist-punchline based on the thinness of these classic cartoon characters, which is brought home very successfully with well delivered comedy dialogue.

One break leads to another in this vlog-style winning topic entry by SFToons.

Along with dual color layering, which works well to separate the character from the background, the cheerful, tongue in cheek narrative bring out the humor of the word play premise nicely.

A be-hatted trap specialist evades spiked beds, flame pits, and deadly mazes with consummate skill in this platform game inspired, action packed winning entry by Jhon.

A hidden shovel provides the key to freedom in this escape tunnel digging, weekly topic winner by Soups.

“Big X” would be proud!

This Weeks Topic - "Behind Glass"

This topic is about anything that is, or could be behind glass:

A ship in a bottle, a specimen inside a bell-jar, someone peering through a window, or whatever else you can come up with.

There’s also a great opportunity here to have someone or something interact with the glass.

For instance, a person squishing their face into a pane of glass would be huge fun to animate, with many distortions and funny faces a certainty!

As glass is transparent, it would be a good idea to suggest its presence somehow. This could be done with shading or action, as well as many other techniques such as rain drops, reflections, glints and hi-lights.

Here’s an example: In cartoons like The Simpsons they use light blue diagonal stripes to show up the glass in their windows (Checkerboard blue shade could be just the ticket for this effect)

But however you decide to take on the challenge, why not give your Flipnotes a touch of glass, and start making a Weekly Topic entry today.

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Behind Glass and the deadline for your entries is August the 13th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
