Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly Newsletter and Weekly Topic competition.

We had a great response to last week's topic “Masks”, and a selection of our favorite winning entries are coming up.

But first we'd like to point out some adjustments to the upcoming Topics list at the end of the News Letter. These have been made to allow a full week of judging time for the Spring 2025 Sudomemo F.F.C.

(Please note: All previously mentioned Topics will be rescheduled)

And now a word about our ongoing fund raising activities.

Well done to everyone who entered.

When a mysterious masked mouse tries picking on Flip the Cat, he gets his just deserts, in this terrific Topic winning entry by ◆Flip Cat◆.

Rendered beautifully in a snappy cartoon style, the whole piece shines with strong character design, fine-line boil animation, and creative Flipnote sound effects, courtesy of a certain frog!

Trying on different masks results in a painful case of life imitating art in this quick witted Topic winner by Blood wolf.

The character animation is expertly drawn, with highly realistic action poses, and concise movement. As is the impact of the ‘Unhappy-face mask’ in the punch-line, which had us wincing with laughter!

This Weeks Topic - "Card Games"

There’s many different card games that can be played with specialised cards, as well as a traditional deck of cards.

For example:

Snap, Poker, Gin Rummy, Top Trumps, Trivial Pursuit, and of course Monopoly.

Any of these could be good inspiration for a Flipnote.

The illustrated characters in a traditional deck, as well as the cards themselves could also be fun to draw or animate (Like in the “Alice in Wonderland” movies - See YouTube link below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFyK46kjQ48

Your Flipnotes for this Topic could involve, or be inspired by any aspect of card games, in any way you like.

So why not shuffle up some Flipnote cards, and start dealing out a Topic entry today?

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Card Games and the deadline for your entries is April the 13th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes, to highlight any details you’d like us to feature in our winner reviews.

Tip: The frame you save your Flipnote on will become the thumbnail, so choose your favorite or add a title page!

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
