Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "Crocodiles"

In this spectacular metamorphosis animation by FIotaga, a cartoon crocodile transforms gracefully into a tropical island.

We were very impressed with this creator’s handling of such a classic technique. Whereby moving and changing suitable crocodilian features, its armored scales become the plates of a palm tree’s trunk, as well as its many pointed teeth scattering to become the pebbles of the island’s beach.

A frame by frame view proves very rewarding here to appreciate every detail of the skillful transition.

It’s feeding time down at the Crocodile Zoo, and boy oh boy are they hungry, in this jaw crunching Topic winner by JoseFigueC.

Jam packed with fantastically drawn and animated crocs seen from every different angle imaginable (We counted 26 in one shot!), they chomp their way through enough meat to feed a small army and still look ready for more.

Thank goodness for those sturdy fences!

In this funny and informative winning topic entry by suprjustin, we discover that Florida is the home of many of America’s crocodiles.

Nevertheless, its residents seem to be blissfully unaware of the danger they pose!

Blowpipe darts can prove successful in putting a crocodile to sleep, as we see in this Weekly Topic winner by Aaron G.P.

Just be careful a Crocodile-Incident doesn’t take place, and it wakes up when you’re least expecting it!

In this Weekly Topic winning Flipnote SilyElixir transforms their Profile character into a crocodile using figure movement, color change, and a great morphing sound effect.

Inspired by the Disney puzzle game “Where’s My Water?”, a crocodile gulps down a bath full of the stuff in this hilarious topic winning Flipnote by Emery.

He must have been really thirsty!

This Weeks Topic - "Anticipation In Animation"

One of the twelve principles of animation, anticipation is very basically The Action Before The Main Action. Or more precisely, The Preparation For An Action.

For example:

The squat before a jump.

The pull back before a punch.

The windup before a throw.

The drawback before launching into a run.

There are also many less noticeable anticipations of only a frame or two, to punctuate a performance or emphasize an action and really make it pop! These small anticipations can be anything from a quick backwards movement to a head dip with a blink.

Create your animations to involve any anticipation you like. And why not GO BIG! That always works brilliantly with cartoon animation.

However you decide to play it, take a good step back, and then go for it!
