Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly NewsLetter and Weekly Topic competition. Don't forget to check out next week's topic theme and it's description, as well as the subsequent Upcoming Topics at the end of the Newsletter.
And now, here are the winning Flipnotes from last week's topic "Pixel Animation". Well done to everybody who entered.
Our first winning Flipnote this week is by a true virtuoso of Pixel animation, Pao!. Checkout his creators room and you'll see what we mean!
His hilarious entry features cool pixel characters sound mixing on TV, much to the amusement of its viewers.
With crisp and clear pixel control and composition, including facial expressions, shadows, and outline separation, the finished result is a master-class in pixel manipulation.
Behold, the Pixel Gun!
We were totally blown away by our next Weekly Topic Winning Flipnote, by mrjohn
As in fact was he! And in spectacular fashion, using photo stop motion mixed with cartoon elements, and several degrees of progressive pixelation, to create the effect of being disassembled into pixels by this science fiction weapon and creative Flipnote tool.
This delightful and whimsical animation, by 20110, follows the forgetful exploits of a Stickman catching an aeroplane flight.
The action takes place at the very bottom of the screen, with perfect, tiny pixel characters, supported with pictorial thought bubbles to help communicate the idea. Which works brilliantly!
Suitcase, passport, money! That's it, he's good to go!
A staple of animation, hand movement, is brought to us in pixelated form, in this Weekly Topic Winner by jason.
The fine line drawings transform exceptionally well into clean pixelated images, demonstrating the pixelation process in Flipnote studio just perfectly.
Very nicely done!
We were fascinated to see an animated draw turned into a pixel animation, for this Winning Topic entry by ivan.
Follow the lines of the 'Pixel Dog' as it comes together, only this time, tiny square by tiny square!
A celebration of computer game characters throughout the ages, from 8 bit retro all the way to modern day, is the subject of this Winning entry by Jake.
We were buzzed by its frenetic pace, and jazzed by its dynamic action.
A splendid take on the theme!
There's an impressed abundance of fantastic pixel characters in this Weekly Topic Winner, by Cosmirage.
With a magical morphing alien, pixel patterned backgrounds, and 1920s music, this beautifully made Flipnote really fits the bill!
A pompous know it all is someone who is self important, with an inflated ego, and a real wind bag. They are usually arrogant and overbearing, and talk confidently about subjects they know nothing about.
Do you know anyone like this? Then why not make a Flipnote about them!
Or create your own pompous characters, perhaps adapting your OCs, or drawing inspiration from your best loved TV shows and movies.
Here's a list of our favorite pompous characters from TV, movies and cartoons:
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory - TV comedy series)
Guilderoy Lockheart (Harry Potter movie franchise - Played by Kenneth Branagh)
Colonel Trautman (Rambo movie franchise)
Daffy Duck (Warner Bros Cartoons)
Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons cartoon series)
Top Tip:
Why not find audio from these characters and others online, record it onto your Flipnote, and then animate along with it.
This could be a great help in creating a character.
.
We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.
