Hey there everyone, DeepRising here with the Weekly News Letter. There was a great response to last week's topic "Fishing". Well done to everybody who entered. Here are the winning flipnotes.
Our first selection is this delightful animation by Enecs. We loved the loose line drawing technique and the glint in the eye as the catch is landed.

We think the fisherman in this next entry by Doctor Q. has bitten off more than he can chew XD. It has a very nicely constructed scene with a great comedy pay off.
A cat finds an ingenious way to fish for his supper in this great flipnote by ItsRaining.

We really enjoyed the fantastic dynamic animation style of this entry by ~Z-6. What a great cast!
This surreal flipnote by Kabruki has a fantastic mix of ideas in it. I want one of those fisherman so chairs for my self :D.

In this charming entry by Vicz a fish rescues his friend from a fisherman's hook. We really loved the music too, as it compliments the images beautifully.
Those are our winners for this week. Now here's a flipnote making tip:
Music and sound effects can really improve a flipnote. Place your DSi in front of a speaker or use head-phones over the microphone to record music onto your flipnote. Voice effects are great too and lots of fun. Traditional live sound effect techniques, such as crumpling paper, splashing water and scrunching rice can be very effective too. We'd love to hear your creative sound effects on your flipnote entries.
This week's topic is Multi-Layer. This would include any ideas that involve more than one layer. A popular use of a multi-layer technique in animation is for multi-plane backgrounds. The layers move at different speeds to create a feeling of depth. It doesn't have to be a landscape though. It could be anything you like, objects, patterns, textures and characters. Feel free to experiment with different arrangements and movements of images on layers to create your flipnote ideas.
Flip-Tip: Flipnote has 2 working layers, but if you merge these layers, you can add another and another, merging as you go, allowing for many layers to be built up.
We really love the way your all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the flipnotes you create for them. Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel, and the deadline for your entries is the 24th September. Keep on flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
