Our Favorite Flipnotes from last weeks Topic "The Crab"

We couldn’t help but shed a tear when we watched this beautifully melancholic ode to the life of a crab, created by LivzKat.

Its haunting melody and sorrowful introspection really tugs on the heart strings, as he considers his claws, his stalked eyes, and the ocean he lives in.

The intricate motion of a running crab is ingeniously explored in this winning topic entry by Calite.

Using overlapping leg action cycles creates the elegant cascade of movement that propels the crab along its path. This works particularly well when the crab is in motion, and is also fascinating to watch when stationary.

I’m so pleased this creator ignored my advice to animate the legs as a blur.

It’s truly the most complex piece of running animation I’ve ever seen!

Goodi⬆⬇ got our toes tapping and our pincers clicking with this fantastic MV starring the indomitable Mr. Krabs.

Complete with funky dancing, chorus lines, and a cynical Squidward, even the Flipnote creator is utterly exhausted by his crabby antics!

Mr. Krabs’ arch enemy Plankton is up to his evil tricks once again in this topic winning selection by ⒷIⒷⒷⒶ.

Expertly animated with gestural performance, lip-synched dialogue, and a marvelous Flipnote page-turning effect for the calendar adjustment, his vengeful plans wreak cartoon havoc with the hapless proprietor of the Krusty Krab.

As is his crazy wont, Wacky pays an extremely infuriating visit to the Krusty Krab restaurant in this topic winner by Jake.

We love the way Jake incorporates his OC perfectly into the SpongeBob world with superbly drawn characters, accurately styled animation, and a mix of cartoon and OC dialogue.

Very nicely done indeed!

We were very impressed by the character drawing style of this Mr. Krabs Flipnote illustration by byl_3DS.

Fully colored and shaded, with additional pictorial elements such as a drop-shadow, textured hi-lights, and an eye-catching patterned background, it quite took our breath away.

A bubblegum blowing hermit crab ends up with egg on its face in this topic winning entry by Esmee♥.

We very much enjoyed the creative choice of crab type for this animation, as well as the chewing and bubble blowing action that sells the comedy twist punchline so well!

This Weeks Topic - "Communication"

There’s many different ways to try and communicate;

Talking, gesturing, expressions, body language, mime, the written word, electronically, with symbols and sign posts, as well as through megga-phones, walkie-talkies, and tannoy announcements, to name a few.

All of these attempt to communicate important information. But whether or not there's understanding, is not always certain!

Your topic entries could explore communication in whichever way appeals to you.

Or conversely, they could focus on the failures to communicate that can often be the subject of hilarious comedy.

The creative choice is yours.

Why not communicate it to us in the form of a Flipnote.

We really love the way you're all so creative with these topics and look forward to seeing the Flipnotes you create for them.

Make sure to post your entries to the Weekly Topic channel Weekly Topic - Communication and the deadline for your entries is March the 26th (12pm EST / 4pm GMT).

We would also encourage you to add a description to your Flipnotes. This is your opportunity to explain any points of interest and specific details that we could feature in the topic winner reviews.

And don't forget, if you want a cool thumbnail picture on your Flipnote, whichever frame you save the Flipnote on, that will become the thumbnail. So choose your favorite frame for this, or add in a cool title page at the end, and save on that.

Keep on Flipnoting and the best of luck with your entries.
